A winter fairytale from Norway and the Faroe Islands
Winter Symphony is the first chapter in the musical universe of Hagen Vinter – a collection of songs inspired by winter landscapes, the people who inhabit them, and the light that remains even when the darkness is at its deepest.
The music moves between symphonic soundscapes, pop, musical theatre and classical influences. From the movement of the sea to snow-covered landscapes, from the grand and dramatic to the intimate and vulnerable.
The album’s first single, “Winter Fairytale,” is a duet with Faroese singer Edith Dahl Jakobsen. Here, a winter fairytale unfolds through snow, stars, moonlight and magic.
“Vinterbarn” brings a Faroese children’s choir into the story, singing of the innocence and joy of winter, while “Havets Vals” brings the sea into the winter landscape.
But winter has its warmer side, too. In “Vintertango,” cold meets body, rhythm and desire – because even in the North, winter can burn.
And in the instrumental title track, “Vintersymfoni” (Winter Symphony), the winter landscape shifts and transforms along the way, moving between quieter and more lively passages.
This is the first chapter. Winter has only just begun to tell its story.
